School and Locality Team Planning meetings receive the cluster treatment
A pilot for clustered Locality Team meetings gets the thumbs up!
One of the initial actions of the Swift and Easy Access Focus Group has been to try and streamline the process for the termly school and locality team planning meetings (these multi-professional meetings are for the discussion of cases relating to children and young people with special educational need).
The focus group started by targeting a small number of schools and worked with them to book in a suitable slot with the Locality Team for their termly planning meeting which was then held at a central venue. Where applicable schools allowed time to 'overlap' their planning meetings, particularly where they may be joint cases being worked.
Initial feedback from the Locality Team and from school Special Education Needs Coordinators (SENCo's) has been very positive and following the recent pilot there are now plans to extend the rollout across other Confederation schools.
The Project Manager and NW Locality Team Manager are currently working on a suggested schedule to be presented to schools in the autumn term 2008. Watch this space!
